Today, I was removing a small abandoned web from the outside wall and I noticed a mosquito hanging from it. He / she appeared quite entangled and I didn’t know if he was dead or not. But I like to check before I discard abandoned webs.
With a pair of tweezers, I started to gently remove the many strands of web from his legs. This was very delicate work. I did not want to hurt him or accidentally pull off one of his legs along with the web. As I proceeded I noticed he started working with me. I didn’t really have much hope that I could successfully release him or release him without serious injury which would leave him incapable of surviving. But as I proceeded slowly, he was pushing against my fingers and one leg at a time, together we managed to free him from quite a mess of web. It took about 10 minutes. It must have been quite traumatic for him. Freeing his last two legs were the most difficult and it was touch and go for a moment. 😉
Voila! Suddenly he was free.
He immediately flew away into the sky with quite a degree of strength. That was a surprise because I didn’t expect a good outcome 🙂 and it make me very happy. I thought I would share this story with you 🙂
Let’s save and protect insects wherever possible. Let’s incorporate nonviolence into every aspect of our lives. 🙂
